What special precautions should I follow?

Before taking Alteplase:

Inform your doctor of all prescription and non-prescription medication you may be using, especially: "blood thinners" (e.g., Warfarin®), or aspirin.

Tell your doctor your medical history, especially if you have had: recent surgery or medical procedures (e.g., biopsies, blood tests), recent childbirth, liver problems, kidney problems, blood disorders (e.g., low platelets) or any allergies.

This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

Furthermore, it is not known whether alteplase passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
